Cut list reference

Each entry defines one term. A worked layout, when there is one, stays in the guides.

Furniture

Sheet goods for cabinets: the size you enter, the grain you lock, and the kerf of the saw that cuts them.

Metal

Sheet metal and profiles. The kerf depends on the machine, and a bent part is entered as its flat blank.

Length

Bar cut lengthA bar part is a length. Stock is used by that length, the kerf between cuts, and trim at the ends.

Glass

Float and mirror are still rectangles. Score-and-snap removes no gap, and tempered glass is cut before the furnace.

Edge bandingEdge banding is a strip glued on after the cut, and the cut size has to allow for its thickness.

Flat patternA bent sheet-metal part is entered as the flat blank, not as the folded size.

KerfKerf is the width of material one cut removes.

Laser kerfLaser kerf is the width of the beam's cut.

OffcutAn offcut is the leftover piece still large enough to cut a later part from.

Panel saw kerfOn a panel saw, kerf is the tooth width of the blade in the machine.

Score-and-snapA glass cutter scores the surface and the pane snaps, so the kerf is zero unless you type a clearance.
